Three species of seaweed will be explored in PROMAC, the two kelps Saccharina latissima and Alaria esculenta, and the red seaweed Palmaria pamata (dulse). These species are widely distributed in coastal waters of the North Atlantic and native to Norway. Work package 1 will focus on the characterization of wild and cultivated seaweeds with emphasize on the content of protein and other components of importance for application in food or feed.

The work package is led by Dr. Michael Y. Roleda ( from Nibio and the partners involved are SINTEF, Møreforsking, Matis, CEVA and NMBU.
